Hey Trusty,
Thanks for taking the time to respond so quickly!. Have you not been unable to collect this data over the past couple of weeks? I would think you would have some data collected from...
Over the past couple of weeks, the community has spent a lot more time playing on the new cluster of maps at Harper's Ferry. The two maps where you fight in town are very playable, and if we were...
I timed that map, for the confederates, it takes like 3 minutes 45 seconds to reach the point at the double quick. For the union it takes closer to 5 minutes for the same task.
My concern lies not with the tactics, there will be dev implemented tools to encourage people to fight together. My concern comes when it finally gets to the maps where the CSA must take the point...
How did this turn out?
Thanks for the info Stockton! I also found the video you referenced of using modern technology to replicate the sound of the rebel yell from dozens of soldiers (in this case simulated to be 70...
I tend to agree the weapons seem to behave differently (from a ballistic perspective) in the Drill camp vs in a skirmish.
The referenced session took place about a week ago, so I am going off of memory. The actual range may have been 150 meters, but the bullet drop at that range is pretty minimal.
Trusty previously indicated that the drill server targets use the "ray casting" system, which basically works off of line of sight, and doesn't account for bullet drop. I have also done testing on...
When I say spinning target, I mean something like this.

This would let the shooter know that they hit their...
Trusty already indicated that the targets at the drill Camp are not accurate in another thread. Apparently they work on something called Ray casting. Or at least I think that was the term used. ...
thanks for the historical corrections. I thought that the armies were using the principals from Henry Heth's book, A System of Target Practice. Upon further review, this was not possible, as the book...
First, let me just say that I love the idea of making it more realistic and incorporating bullet drop into the game. I think it's awesome that we have to think about the target's range. I understand...
