At 300 yards and under, the .577 minie bal had enough power to rip through 3 men. however outside that power drops off quickly, can be stopped with a belt buckle, many examples of this in the war records.
Well I'm not surprised that a belt buckle could stop a bullet, it could stop one even today, belt buckles are pretty thick pieces of metal.
Bullets were still deadly over 1000yds, even a 22lr can kill a person over 400yds away. I'm not denying what your saying, but flesh is much weaker than metal.

i dont believe it either as when the bullet hits it expands rapidly which is why the Minie ball is so deadly and the modern answer to being shot by it is still amputation. It can go through a thin door however but almost definitely not through three people

"Captain, my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. Captain, that is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave".- Thomas Jonathan Jackson
Just incase anyone missed it..........
The above post by myself is a link to a video detailing Minie vs Modern ballistics and their respective penetration over different distances and into different substances.
Well worth a watch. Be you are an amature enthusiast, budding historian or even a games developer.
Needed, needed feature.
I'm fairly sure that once the combat phase starts people will see why:
Scenarios I can envision:
houses acting like fortresses (one way in with multiple firing points looking out)
Which would make buildings something that'd detract from gameplay (like imagine attacking farms with multiple buildings). the only exceptions should be barns etc that have thick concrete walls (which a Minie wouldn't penetrate) but cannons etc should have some effect on these (shrapnel/dust/particle effects).
Fences/stone walls/embankments:
Stuff I'd love to see here: rounds deflecting off the tops of stone walls (like a fragmentation/trajectory change effect).
Earth/terrain being penetrable: lots of sunken lanes with embankments, cannons and rounds being able to penetrate the tips and less dense sections of these (along with suitable particle effects) would be good.
