I would say bayonet combat will only happen at (fairly uncommon) close-range battles, when one side has an extreme advantage, or as a foolish and costly move.
    Hi David,

I hear what you are saying. I hope that I am wrong, to a point (excuse the pun). I'd like to know what other players reload times are at present on the Alpha and whether these will remain fixed, perhaps my chap was drinking the night before...

The stamina point is very valid, I'm still wondering if the Dev's have the capacity to look at the environment to hinder some sprint and even double time movements. Maybe sap the stamina at greater cost or cause delay. A fence is a current great example, except everyone can hop it within a second or two, wish I had that ability dressed in uniform and pack with a firearm/banner/pointy instrument in my hand.

I suppose what you were originally suggesting could simplify the hand to hand combat keyboard keystokes or mouse commands, my worry would be that the animations could be a little ridged. But, that could be for the Dev's to expand on I guess. Would like to see how the alpha improves before committing to this idea currently.

I've seen some great points from both of y'all. The fence particularly interested me. It IS pretty difficult even if you are Michael Phelps to get over a fence in a gracious and timely manner. I know, I did it two weeks ago at a reenactment! Keep up the great discussion guys, I enjoy reading your thoughts!

I have no proof of this, but I doubt that during the Civil War, exchanges ever lasted more than 5-10 seconds, let alone a 60+ second duel.
