    Cobb's Legion (GA) - Company C - Georgia Troopers - The Grey Ghosts (NA/EU)

    Make a Difference ...
COME HUNT WITH THE GREY GHOSTS!

CBS Host John Dickerson - "What keeps you awake at night?"
Defense Secretary James Mattis - "Nothing. I keep other people awake at night."

The Georgia Troopers is a Reconnaissance Cavalry Troop assigned to Stonewall Jackson's Second Corps.
While the other Cavalry units of II Corps are traditional Mobile Infantry or Heavy Shock units ... we are their keen eyes and sharp knife. We use stealth and speed to scout out the enemy, report on their movements and destroy their Command Structure.

    UNIT ROLES:
Scouting - Working forward of the Division ... we evaluate terrain, obstacles and troop deployments to aid Unit Commanders in their decision making.
Spying - Enemy unit Information is gathered through stealthy observation. It is then relayed to Troop Command where it is evaluated, processed and forwarded to Brigade through the Liaison Officer.
Infiltration - Making our presence felt behind enemy lines disrupts morale and forces adjustment of their initial plans.
Assassination - Specifically targeting Officers and Senior Enlisted helps cut the head off the Yankee snake.
Disruption of Enemy Command Structure - Harassment of enemy Command Posts forces them to focus on their movement and safety rather than battle strategy and decision making.

These actions are accomplished through deployment of small independent units coordinated by Troop Headquarters.
Platoon Leaders are responsible for coordinating their Squads but, for the most part, control is given to the Squad NCOs who are expected to use initiative and cunning to accomplish the Command's overall strategy and goals ... as they see fit.

    NOTE:
Despite our specialized Reconnaissance Role ...
We will Train to be able to fill ALL three Cavalry Roles because ... In Battle, the very first casualty is always 'The Plan'.
If ... at any engagement, we are unable to field a Troop you must be trained to step into another Unit and function at the high standards we have set for ourselves and others. If ... Another Cavalry Troop does not show up we may be asked, by Corps Command, to fill one of the other Cavalry Roles. We serve II Corps' needs ... above all else.

    Recruiting Poster 2 - 5 inch.jpg

The Troop is recruiting Troopers from anywhere in the world ... as we would like to be able to field a force ANY time II Corps calls for our Unique Services.

    Welcome Trooper,
I am Lieutenant General Cooley, C Troop Commander and Overall Commander of Stonewall Jackson's Second Corps.
My Credo is a simple one ... Unit before Self with Honor above ALL else.

This is Cobb's Legion Company C and if you joined the Cavalry because you thought riding was easier than walking ... the Infantry Drill more ... dying in a glorious cavalry charge is your Destiny ... OR the Girl's love a Cavalryman the best ... Well, only the last one is true and you are in the wrong Unit.

We are a Stealth Reconnaissance Troop and if we do our job right II Corps will get the Glory and no one will know your name but ...
The enemy will never know that YOU were the reason they couldn't hide, lost all of their Officers and NCOs and won't be seeing their sweethearts tonight. Your reward will be in the knowing look and respectful nod of your Fellow Troopers who know they can rely upon you, will never let you down and the Great South is one step closer to Independence because of this day's actions and our inevitable next day's Victory.

This Great reward will come neither swiftly nor easily. You will Drill, hone your skills, be tested and retested then Drill some more. Rest is for the Dead and those who wish to soon be so. Your training and hard work will insure that THAT person is Billy Yank and not one of MY Troopers. Is that clear?

Mustering out to a lesser Unit, be it Cavalry or a LEG unit, is always your option.
If you find this is not the life for you I encourage you to speak with your Sergeant and begin the Transfer Process, but ... if you can cut the mustard the personal rewards will greatly outweigh any sacrifice I may ask of you.

I may be the Head of this Troop but the First Sergeant is its Heart.
If you listen to your Head and obey your Heart you will be a Trooper to be envied.
Do this and ... Live or Die ... you will be a Hero to your family, unit and Country.

I look forward to seeing you complete your Training and the awarding of your Spurs.
First Formation is at 0400, in work clothes at the stable, because your horse is your life Trooper.
The First Sergeant will see to your Billets ... Dismissed.

II Corps will field a large and dedicated Cavalry unit with Companies assigned to very specific Roles. There are 3 types of Cavalry styles in this time period and we will field all three.
    - Dragoons will advance and keep the enemy preoccupied at Point so our Infantry can take up the most advantageous positions, unmolested by enemy forces. Once relieved, our Dragoons will be assigned to protect the flanks, harass reinforcements and assist in the taking of other Points of Contention. They are the Tip of the Spear and work with the Infantry to assure mission success. There will be multiple units of Dragoons in II Corps.
    - Mobile Infantry have two very important roles, even if less glamorous to some. They have to be great horsemen as well as accomplished Infantrymen. They are placed near the front lines in a Reserve capacity. Their mobility is key to positioning them, at a moment's notice, where the Corps needs them the most. MI has the grave responsibility of Saving the Day. Filling holes in the line, shoring up weak positions, assisting endangered units and appearing in areas that the enemy thought were vacant and safe ... this is their primary objective. Secondly, when the Infantry is able to break through the enemy lines they can often be easily countered and contained due to their slowness of movement. This is when the MI should be utilized, by Higher Command, to exploit the breach. A quick movement and deployment, just on the other side of the breach, can give the Infantry the crucial time it needs to reorganize, maneuver and take advantage of the enemy. There will be multiple units of Mobile Infantry in II Corps.
    - Reconnaissance Cavalry is the third unit type. Cobb’s Company C … [Cobb’s Co C] … is the only Recon Cav unit in II Corps. Their missions are so specialized that 100 men is all that will be needed to turn the tide of battle. Working in small teams Scouting, Sharpshooting and Harassment will make them the Force Multipliers of Our Corps. When the enemy must expend large amounts of resources to thwart the efforts of a small team we have been victorious. The enemy’s confusion, chaos and anger are the Goal.

    Morning.
I'm not sure you really need to be reserving an additional four posts. Have you taken a look at some other threads? One can really squeeze in a lot with some clean formatting and good use of BBCode.

    Still, welcome to the CSA!
