    inventory character screen

I hope it gets finished soon, as i really want to be able to choose whether I spawn with a sword/gun, or rifle when as a NCO. I also hope we are able to choose what character, and/or what stripes on the character's arms. I long for the day when corporals will not be walking around with sergeant major stripes.

agreed, I want to play as a sergeant but I don't want to spawn with a sword. I honestly feel useless if I get a sword as a NCO because all you can do is carry it around, least officers gets some kind of ranged weapon.

Ultimately the Developers said that your rank will be tied to the company tool. IF you're a Sargent in your company then you'll be a Sargent in game. If you're not ...

Also believe I read where NCOs will be given the option to carry either a pistol or rifle

For the most part, any NCO below Sergeant Major would've carried the same equipment as any other enlisted man in the regiment. If anyone has any research to show otherwise I'd love to see it! That's not a challenge, I'm always looking to see what actually would've been done.

My 3G Father was discharged from the 38th NC to form Co. D of Thomas' Legion. We are fortunate to be in possession of many of his personal effects and documents for the company. His rank was 1st LT. and he served only in Western NC, Eastern TN, Eastern KY, and SW Virginia. Other elements of the Legion served in Northern Virginia. We know that he possessed and used a .40 Caliber long rifle (appears similar to late 1700's flintlock Pennsylvania style), a .40 caliber 5 shot revolver with a proof mark indicating Athens Georgia as the origin, and a very large knife. One of his Sergeants (and family friend/neighbor) carried what appears to be an early 10 bore English fowler and one or more single shot pistols. Many of the Cherokee in the Legion carried the Brown Bess or locally produced "squirrel rifles". I realize these were irregular troops, and their fighting style was more Cherokee in origin than any thing else.....Hopefully this helps.

That's an awesome history! I would imagine they used those early war and probably got supplies later. Though western side of things who knows! Even with what you've said we can see that their primary firearms would've been long arms. Thanks for sharing!
