Valve has started talks about Half Life 3's development. Between June 13-15th it will be discussed. Last time a half life game came out was in 2007 (Half Life 2 Ep 2). It took them 10 years but we will find out more soon.
Pray tell where you came by this information?

To be honest, the only articles about HL3 I can find is the co writers for the series have resigned from Valve - which makes HL3 less likely. However, I'm holding out hope that Valve uses their new Source 2 Engine to make HL3.

2007??? Half-life 2 came out in 2004. No flagship title since then. To me it was the ultimate betrayal of a community to fail to develop Half-life further. I'm not counting the episodes or orange box. I was 18, working at Walmart when HL2 came out. I wasn't the only person after work waiting for the game to be put on shelves. Now I'm 31. I've been active duty army, I've gone to college, I've had a career.
I watched all the brilliant mod communities off of HL2's engine die a horrible death. The ban system doesn't work without a special, and complicated plugin. Any player can crash any server if your server doesn't have community-made plugins. I had a server for 5 years in my mod community. I had a big steam community and I ran events that nobody else could run and we had tons of fun. Nobody wants to develop or even map on that crap engine anymore. All the mod communities that didn't go pro have perished now, many without replacements. That was totally unthinkable at the beginning. Everyone kept thinking "HL3... HL3..." That stupid little vehicle in HL2 was so cool, yeah, okay. It was a ruse, there isn't a single driveable vehicle you can find in all the offspring of HL2. They must have had an army of coders to get that thing working. Like a piece of cheese in a rat trap, the whole community was caught and left to rot.
To hell with Gabe Newell and Valve, seriously.
