2nd Georgia, Company G. "The Columbus Guards"

This Page is a WIP , And will change and adapt in the coming days due to feedback.

    Actively Recruiting

    Age Requirement of 16+
    and
    Willing to Roleplay

Part of the Army Of Northern Virginia , Serving in Toombs' Brigade, the 2nd Georgia Company G was mustered in Muscogee County, Georgia in June of 1861 . Also Known as the "Columbus Guards" The men of the 2nd Georgia were no stranger to war. Having been founded in 1835 they served bravely in The Indian War in 1836, The Mexican-American War in 1846, The War of Northern Aggression in 1861, the Spanish-American War in 1898, and the Great War. Recognized as among the best-drilled companies in the South, the Columbus Guards also served as an honor guard for Jefferson Davis' inauguration as president of the Confederate States of America in February 1861.

The men of Company G proudly served in the Peninsula Campaign, Seven Days Battles, Northern Virginia Campaign, and the Maryland Campaign. They were most distinguished by their role in the Battle of Antietam , In which they defended what would be later known as the Burnside bridge , and protected the Confederate right flank . The 450 Hardened men of Georgia held off 14,000 Union soldiers for over three hours , killing more than 500 union soldiers as they attempted to cross. This hold and the subsequent delay of 2 hours for union troops to fully cross the bridge , was enough time to allow reinforcements from A.P. Hills light division to march in from Harper's Ferry and save the Army of Northern Virginia from what could have been led to their utter destruction.

The entire 2nd Georgia remained integral during the war, Serving the Army of Northern Virginia until the very end where they Surrendered alongside Lee in Appomattox with 12 Officers and 146 hardened Georgians. The Second Georgia being a small part of this number , had only 2 officers and 11 men survive the whole war.

This Company will be a Light Roleplay based Infantry Company. We will focus mainly the on the enjoyment of the game , while maintaining a semblance of period style roleplay during battle. This means we may not always march in formation in Skirmishes , But we will fight together and with those around us cohesively to ensure overwhelming Confederate Victory. All players will have to communicate through VOIP in game as it is the most immersive for others who may not be in a company. This will keep all players in the game able to hear and understand our movements and create a deeper gaming experience for all involved.

Welcome, and I like the first picture!
"If we were wrong in our contest, then the Declaration of Independence of 1776 was a grave mistake and the revolution to which it led was a crime. If Washington was a patriot; Lee cannot have been a rebel."

"I want you to try to teach to your children and to your children's children that ours was not a lost cause. I want you to tell them that we were fighting for the right ..."

Here's a Snippet of some of the work the 2nd Georgia did During an event where the confederates played the Union side.

We are seen at around 9:55 in the church , Me being the officer present

We ended up in our first lives , Getting to the hill and taking pot shots at the fence, to sneaking into the church and killed 14 men before being ultimately wounded and killed . but our sacrifice allowed the center to fall and the boys from 1st Texas to move in.

    Huzzah for the 2nd Gerogia!

These guys are the roughest and most fearsome fighters of the Army of Northern Virginia. I can personally attest to this!
