55th Volontaire De New York Des Gardes Lafayette

    History/Histoire

The 55th Infantry Regiment, also known as the 55th Militia, Lafayette's Guard or the French Regiment
has been created by the Colonel Baron Philipe de Trobriand in New York during the summer of 1861.

It's recruits are mainly drawn from the 55th State Militia Regiment, a predominatly French Unit nicknamed the "Lafayette Guard".

Which formed the nucleus of this new regiment. It was organized in camp near New Dorp, Staten Island, and there mustered in the service of the United States for three years since August 28, 1861, except Company B, which was not then organized and which joined the regiment in the field during April 1862.

The State recognized the regiment and gave it its numeral designation in December
    7, 1861. In September 29, 1862, the regiment was consolidated into four companies: A, B, D and F.

The regiment left the state in Augst 31, 1861 and served at Fort Gaines in september 1861, then in Peck's Brigade, then Buel's, Keyes' Division, and finally in the Army of the Potomac, since october 1861.

During its service the regiment lost by death, killed in action, 16 enlisted men; of wounds received in action, 20 enlisted men; of disease and other causes, 29 enlisted men; total, 65; of whom 5 died in the hands of the enemy.

Our Sergeant Grimner takes charge of the training and layoff of the new soldiers.

We have a fairly simple system in terms of upgrading, just willingness, seriousness, and above all know-how.

    Notre Devise :
    Honneur et Fidélitée .

Indeed on Wor We are new, but this system I sounded good, even if have can not reserve a name (which is not the case for us), we did not choose the option 100% roleplay ,

As for the brigades, I command 500 men pending 3 years, I command the foreign Legion Etrangère , so even if it is very different from now, we import our men and our sturcture.
