Its amazing to me how many countries reenact this war. Had no clue it was that popular.

For us it's a nice opportunity to do a different period that is right between the 'slow' rigid warfare of the Napoleonics and the loose, fast style of the 20th century. That, and there's a nice progressive movement within the European ACW community and that really adds to the experience.

Anyone here going to do the A.P. Hill March to Glory in September? A nice 17 mile march from Harpers Ferry to Sharpsburg, crossing the Potomac along the way while retracing Hill's march in 1862.

A cartridge pouch, though you do also seem to lack a canteen.

Are they planning to cover that distance in the same amount of time? Also, will they actually be fording the rivers?

Yep, the full 17 miles from Harpers Ferry to Sharpsburg and yes we will be fording the river, there's some pictures from previous events on the website below. The march will go for 50 minutes, then stop for 10 minutes to rest, then so on repeating that schedule until we reach Sharpsburg.

Amazing. And for the record, that schedule is exactly what the Confederate States Armed Forces discovered works best. So it's wholly realistic.

Way cool! I may have to take a trip on the 17th just to watch this!

Absolutely, we won't be hard to find on Saturday afternoon, just look for the piles of exhausted Confederates lying around the Dunker Church.
