cannot start game.

no clue what is happening just updated the game won't start up. not even the .exe will start
running windows 7 SP1 Ultimate. uninstalled game reinstalled. all that happens is steam box comes up saying it is starting the game but then dissapears in less than 1 second

Had this issue a while back after a small update.
I don´t know what specific thing fixed it for me since when I got home from class I just tried everything in one go, something worked alright.
This is what I tried:

• Verifying game cache
• Reinstalling video card drivers almost from scratch
• Excluded WoR folder from Antivirus protection directory
• execute WoR with admin option.
• Prayed to Zeus

Something clicked an the game hasn´t had a hiccup since.

I use Windows 10 (against my will).
I am also currently running with an Nvidia Gtx 980M 8Gb, 16Gb of RAM and an Intel i7-4720HQ. In case you were wondering that as well.

Same exact thing is happening for me. Press Play on steam then just says preparing to launch but never does.

Has anyone on this thread tried turning it off and on again?
Had a similar problem with another game, possibly entirely unrelated, but try logging all of the way in and out of steam and back in.
If that doesn't work I'd recommend a hammer.

I couldn't start the game after the second recent update. Then I updated to the most recent Nvidia graphics driver and all is good again.

Found a solution. so it turns out for me i was missing a vital windows system component for DX so yeah just downloaded the file and bam

For me the game launches but basically crashes on launch. I have only been able to actually play it once or twice after a fresh install. Besides that it just stays on a black screen and plays the main menu music. After a short bit it just tells me the game has stopped working.
