The 40th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment raised in Virginia for service in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. It fought mostly with the Army of Northern Virginia. Prior to the reorganization of the army after Chancellorsville, it was part of the first brigade of A.P. Hill's Light Division.

The 40th Virginia completed its organization in May 1861. Its members were recruited in Northumberland, Richmond, and Lancaster counties. After serving in the Aquia District, the unit was assigned to General Field's, Heth's, and H.H. Walker's Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia. It participated in the campaigns of the army from the Seven Days' Battles to Cold Harbor, then was involved in the Petersburg siege north of the James River and the Appomattox Campaign.

Welcome to the CSA!

Sorry, didn't mean for you to change anything ... unless of course you wanted to attend this game with true authenticity.

I'm sure there will be fantasy teams and fantasy team battles, but if you're playing for the Historical Accuracy thing, then ... by all means we look forward to the change.

(Side note: There were 3 different 1st Tennessee Regiments. 1) was the one you listed who fought in the western theater (http://www.nps.gov/civilwar/search-battle-units-detail.htm?battleUnitCode=CTN0001RI01), 1) was a federal unit because Tennessee had a large federal leaning population despite being in the confederacy. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tennessee_Union_Civil_War_units) & the last 1st Tennessee was actually part of Archer's Brigade of A. P. Hill's Light Division. (http://www.nps.gov/civilwar/search-battle-units-detail.htm?battleUnitCode=CTN0001RI02))

That said, I do believe that a part of the last listed 1st Tennessee has been formed, and I am not sure which company(ies) it/they are. You are certainly allowed to list a company not listed in the growing companies list (http://www.warofrightsforum.com/showthread.php?740-Company-List) that is established in these forums.

Either way, welcome to you and your group and I hope to see ya'll on the field one day.
