View Full Version : Nvidia Driver update 26/07/2016 - Cant join servers Issue

Ok before i downloaded the new driver update, i was able to join the servers with no noticeable problems (Except for the common list of animation issues etc). I was testing the animation etc ingame when i had a crash to desktop with a driver error message
sadly i was not fast enough to screen cap it :(

I then noticed my drivers were outdated, so i thought that was the issue and updated.

Now i can start the game with no issues but when joining any of the servers it is stuck in "Joining server" and i never get to enter (I was waiting for around 30 minutes - and did retry 5 times before writing here) - No black screen/no crashes... just a never ending joining screen.

GPU: GeForce GT 640M
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz
Memory: 8.00 GB RAM (7.82 GB usable)
Current resolution: 1366 x 768, 60Hz
Driver version: 368.81 (Just updated this driver today)
Operating system: M-Windows 10 Home

This might not be a driver related issue, but i wanted to report it since it might be a help for you or other players.

I am reinstalling the game atm to see if that fixes the problem.
(I will update the thread when i know more)

You might need to wait a few minutes before being able to rejoin a server you've crashed from. The reason for this is that the server needs to realize your client is no longer connected and remove you from the server.

Did a re-install now no changes*** Hmm i forgot to mention than when the game crashed i re-booted the PC.

So it might be a client related error? I know everything is still relatively new, but no hurry in fixing it i can wait :)

I know anitvirus has been causing some troubles for some aswell, so i am removing it to see if that solves the "joining server" issue.


UPDATE: I´ve tried to validate the files on steam. It keeps saying that there is this 1 file that is "fixed" after a successful validation. (been validating files/restarting pc etc 4 time now) - The re-install didnt fix this. However i can still launch the game though.... hmm -

Ok i´ve been trying alot of different troubleshooting solutions. All i can conclude is since i updated my drivers i cant get past the "joining servers" part of the game. It was working without flaws before the crash/ the reboot and then the driver update. One of my friends can join the game flawlessly when i am stuck in the joining server part, so its not because the servers are down when trying. Hmmm... im running out of ideas for fixing this.

And it havent saved the "Bug report" from when the crash happend to i cant use the Error report solution from the WoR folder :(

But I can join the servers but I'm stuck on the Drill camp loading screen. :(

I know you were able to join at first. But try disabling your firewall.

Also if you look in the installation folder. There is a file called system.cfg. Open it with notepad. There is a line with log_verbosity=0. Change it to 3 and save, then start the game, attempt to join a server. If it fails. Close the game. In the same place as the system.cfg. There is a game.log file. There may be multiple of them. So check the dates and make sure you have the newest one. Then post the contents of it here.

I was hoping I would find that :p

I had the same thing happen to me a while back. I did find a partial solution.

Open command promt. Search in windows for cmd. And launch it as an administrator.

Type in the following:


netsh winsock reset

You may or may not want to restart your computer after this.

If it still doesnt work. Open cmd again as an administrator and type in the following lines:


ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Then restart your computer. Most of the times this fixed it for me for a few days. But the issue kept coming back, until I eventually reinstalled windows.

I know you were able to join at first. But try disabling your firewall.

Also if you look in the installation folder. There is a file called system.cfg. Open it with notepad. There is a line with log_verbosity=0. Change it to 3 and save, then start the game, attempt to join a server. If it fails. Close the game. In the same place as the system.cfg. There is a game.log file. There may be multiple of them. So check the dates and make sure you have the newest one. Then post the contents of it here.
I did all that now I can load in but it gets stuck on the "Union Drill Camp" screen.

I used the "fix" you recommended. I was able to enter the game and join in on the EU CSA server.
The problem is when i quit i have to use the CMD winshok "fix" again and restart the pc.. i would call it a temporary fix for me personally i hope you look into this for a more stable fix. (Never had this issue with other online games before, and i would very much avoid doing a compelte reinstall of windows;) )

When i was ingame i had this new crash to desktop. Ill post the game log here:

This started happening to me as well, also this is the first game EVER literally where I've had this issue that could be resolved by running cmd netsh winsock reset.

Something obviously happened with the update of the game.
