Hey Guys,

I just wanted to bring up this question, as I know you're very specifically trying to maintain your historical accuracy, with that said....

I've stumbled across an old posted in-game representation of the Pry House as follows:

http://media.moddb.com/images/games/1/18/17791/Pry_House_scene_WIP_1.jpg

While period photos represent the house as follows (notice the lack of addition on the back of the house, and the 4 windows located on the side of the house, compared to today's version of the Pry House):

I apologize if you guys have already noticed and made the appropriate historically accurate changes, and I'm sorry if someone did a lot of extra work on the addition of the house. :(

Regards,

It's an ancient screenshot you've found there. Thanks for the report though. We had an awesome tour of the house when we visited the battlefields so it'll be correctly portrayed in-game. The dude in the house is a follower on Facebook so he knew all about WoR. Pretty cool experience. :)

I honestly don't see much difference between the screenshot and the photos. I think what your seeing in the links are reversed photos which is why it seems a little off from the game version.

Hey Trusty,
Nice. Yea I did a visit to the Pry House a few days after you had been there. The house is run by the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. I've met and spoke with their collections manager Kate, at the recommendation of "Pry House" Mike, if that's to whom you're referring. I was glad to hear you guys had been here, but sorry I missed you by a few days. Would have bought you guys lunch.

On a side note, will there be any area of the map that contains Sharpsburg, as in, fighting in or around town?

Legion,

The difference is that the addition to the back of the main house was not present during the war years.

Are you sure? The historical photos that I've seen show the back part of the building.

Are you sure? I'm gonna have to do some more research as I don't know much about the Pry House.

Yes I'm sure lol. What you're comparing to the old in-game screenshot are pictures of the house today. Compare the pictures in your post to the two links in my op. You will see that in the 1860s that it was just a square house, no 2 story addition on the back and left side. You don't see the difference?

No. This was taken during the war.

The 2 links in your op are just reversed images of the house, look at the pic that I posted above and you will see the rear addition of the house.

Nah, they are not reversed. The vintage photos are taken from the left front of the house. Look at the same picture from the left front that you posted, and you'll see 2 less windows in the front left room of the house (they've obviously have been bricked up today). The left side of the house in 1860s was only the depth of the main house, not the extra addition. I've been to this house on numerous occassions.

I'm telling you they are reversed images, here is an actual photo of the house during the war. http://civilwartalk.com/attachments/mcclellans-headquarters-jpg.78866/

Here is the image from the op flipped to the proper orientation.

I suppose they could have been reversed. Doesn't make sense to me that the Museum of Civil War Medicine that runs the house would publish photos on their website, knowingly in the reverse. Take what I had to work with, I found two photo's, both showing the same angle and perspective of the house, both circa 1860's (complete with soldiers and wagons in front), and you surfaced one picture, with no soldiers in front. A black and white picture could have been taken anytime between the inception of the camera and the inception of colored film. So, honestly, with horses and what not, the picture you showed could have easily been from the early 1900's. Not denying the two photos I found could have been reversed, just making a point to look at my perspective. The two photos i found were both published by the organization that runs the joint, and both had soldiers in them. After closer examination, I suppose the incline in front of the house does support your reverse theory, but that's only because I've been to the house and have walked the grounds. So I concede, they sure may be reversed. I just don't know why the Museum would publish them as such. Make sense?

Here's one of the same images with the Museum caption on it LOL.

That photo that I posted was taken by Alexander Gardner after the battle. Also i think the photos in the op are modern photos, it you look at the road you will notice that it's not a dirt road and looks like gravel and is in much better condition than the Alexander photo, and you can also see the sign to the museum in the picture.
