When you shoots your musket at the ground will there be dust and stuff that lingers for a minute and also if you shoot say your cannon at one of the houses or buildings can it be destroyed

Developers have said in the past that this will have the same basic functions of any modern fps, including looking around while walking, aiming down the bore of your gun ect. I would assume that this also applies to basic particle effects.

Does that mean destructible buildings/environments?

including looking around while walking
Free look?

If I had a falling leaf get shot out of the air before me then this game would have won me over hook line and sinker. I love it to bit already but to the bullets cutting through foliage and what not would be the bomb

That means free look I believe, yes.

Most modern FPS games tend to lack destructible environments other than the occasional "levolution" that is really just a scripted explosion after someone hits a button on the wall. I think the developers said that as of now, there are no intentions of including things like destructible buildings. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I'd hate to be behind a wall avoiding being shot only to get taken apart by a cannon ball.

I'd guess that cannons are the only weapon in WoR with the power to destroy something larger than a branch. Muskets can't crumble walls or topple trees. Idealy, cannons should be capable of destroying trees and some buildings.

We will see. Here's how I see it. Game first. Destruction later. In other words, make the core mechanics, and if they pull enough sales and pre orders, go back and put in some new destruction physics, unless of course that's already built into the engine, which it might be.

Somehow i want to see such effects too, those would bring more intensity and tactical depth, since your cover would be blown to pieces after some time. As it was mentioned, what about the smoke the guns will produce ? a historian once mentioned: if you want to build an image about pickets charge simply show a white paper.

Smoke should most definitely play a big part in the game. I don't know why it wouldn't.

How does CRYENGINE handle smoke? Large amounts of smoke - necessary for WoR - can be hard for some engines.

I found two videos on youtube showing some smoke physics in Cryengine 3.

Seems like Cryengine will handle it fine.

Will there be winds to effect the amount of smoke on the battlefield as part of the weather systems? If it's a still day the smoke will just build and build as appose to if there was a light breeze

From what I understand, Ketchum Grenades were mainly used in sieges by the the Union Army. Even when thrown directly at Confederate earthworks, they often had little to no affect. In some cases, Confederates would actually catch the grenades in blankets as they were thrown, and throw the blanket with the grenade inside, back into union lines only to explode and do more damage to Northern troops. Contrary to what some video games will make you think ( History Channel Civil War games XD ) Ketchum Grenades weren't used very often due to their ineffectiveness and somewhat bipolar nature. (meaning sometimes they would work, and sometimes they wouldn't)
