View Full Version : Barricading doors on houses

We should be able to barricade doors from the inside of houses, which would make the doors harder to break down. I believe in an open field battle, this would make the houses have more of a strategic value seeing as if you take it before the enemy, it will be harder to take from them.

I would see more people fighting around these houses rather than in formation - which doesnt seem all too realistic unless you are fighting in a city.

Well, this is supposed to be a realistic Civil War regimental based game, not a zombie defense game XD But I see where you are coming from.

Issue is most time the houses where taken over for field hospitals or a Generals Command so nobody wanted to damage houses to much.

Correct, the citizens of Atlanta/ Fredericksburg approve on this one....fighting from houses in that time was pretty rare i guess and i think i must have been unpleasant thinking about the smoke the muskets produced (if you have ever fired a LAW within a room you should know ;) )

-_- Got one even better soulfly fired a AT4 with a 240B and a Barrett in the same room the Barrett was blowing the paint off the walls and the 240B just added to the noise with a room with echo acoustics out the ass LMAO.

Use houses all you want, but I think barricades is a little too far.

By all means I think houses should be able to be entered but instead of a offensive or defensive position I think you should be able to convert them into General HQs or hospitals since I believe they have a medic class.

This would be interesting... It would turn the game into more objective based. "Rush the house for hospital" not sure if this would benefit the community or not.

It would be cool for the head general on the battlefield to be able to move with the battle and set up shop in any building he wishes.

Better yet put a naked Burnside in front no one will want to go near the house.

You forgot tripwire connected to nothing. That has been known to terrify any man that comes near it! You would never have to worry about anyone attacking your building ever again!

In all honesty gentleman with the amount of players we can get on a server we will never be able to exceed company sized engagements. The thing we should be examining is the ability to have a large amount of game types, each of which address a different style of fighting. Here are just a few ideas- http://www.warofrightsforum.com/showthread.php?491-Game-Mode-Ideas&p=8628#post8628 (http://www.warofrightsforum.com/showthread.php?491-Game-Mode-Ideas&p=8628#post8628)

We don't know how many people we can get on a server yet.

Did I see your German slip out a little bit? XD

Anyway, I agree, barricading would be a little over the top even though it sounds nice initially.

Fully agree with you on that one, Rithal.

Well there is always artillery to blow a hole in the building if the barricading gets insane, and the admins can watch for it.

Well my other point is that, was barricading really that common in the Civil War? Most units didn't fight over buildings. They were usually used as general's headquarters and field hospitals. It was usually seen as a "scum" thing to do to break into someone's home and use it as a point to put fire on the enemy. It puts the family in danger as well, and most men back then were rather gentleman-y when it came to things like that.
