My 4th great grandad was said to have been captured and held at Camp Morton. He was apart of the Tennessee Reserves. I havent been able to find hardly any information on the Tennessee Reserves. I havent seen a mention of their role in the war, roster, etc.

It's cool to learn about my ancestors who were in the Civil War. I could spend weeks looking up regiment records, and battle reports.

To me, that term sounds like some sort of home guard, meaning they would stay behind and basically act as the police during the war because literally almost all other men went off to fight. I'm assuming these men would be called to the front when needed as well and probably acted as garrisons of various forts.

Sadly, I don't know anything of the units my ancestors served in :/ I only know they served.
