Excellent article, SuperBee. The Sixth Louisiana is already beginning to incorporate flag-bearers in our drills. Here's a comment from D. Scott. Hartwig, author of To Antietam Creek: The Maryland Campaign of September 1862,

The flags represented the honor of the regiment, yet their purpose on the line of battle was more than symbolic. In the black powder combat of the 19th century they communicated the position of the regiment through the smoke and confusion and helped to hold them together. If the regiment were jarred by the shock of battle the flags would serve as rallying points to reform the men.

Attention! French-speaking soldiers needed!

The Sixth Louisiana Infantry, under the leadership of Maj. Gen. Paioletti, has become one of the largest and most active units in the War of Rights community, and also one of the most respected on the field of battle. Unrelenting attackers, bitterly tenacious defenders, the Sixth Louisiana Infantry have earned the nickname, “Tigers.”

We are now calling for French-speaking soldiers to fill our SECOND PLATOON of Company B. This is the only French unit in the War of Rights community and it is 100% historically correct for the Louisiana Brigade.

The largest and most ethnically diverse city in the Confederate States was New Orleans, Louisiana. Given its bustling port, overflowing with exports of “King Cotton,” tobacco, and sugarcane, and the state’s rich history of both French and Spanish occupation, when the Confederacy called for volunteers to defend the country against Northern invasion, entire companies of native born French, Italians, Irish, Germans, and Creoles rallied to their adopted country’s flag. The Sixth Louisiana Infantry, soon known as the “Tigers”, had over two hundred and fifty nationalities on its muster roll.

Our friend Calbirated.Core was on hand to record the 120-Player Community Line Battle Event, this past weekend, and in doing so captured the exhilarating moment that the Sixth Louisiana "Tigers" delivered the most epic flank attack seen thus far in the community events. He writes,

Great job II Corps on your decisive attack on the Union flank. That flanking maneuver was absolutely devastating to watch.

http://scvtuscaloosa.org/6thla/tiger-scouts.png

Lacking the manpower and training time necessary to act in accordance to the Confederate Government’s official authorization in May 1862 of a Sharpshooter Battalion for each brigade, many officers of the Army of Northern Virginia, seeing the usefulness for such an organization for scouting, probing, and skirmishing with the enemy, formed ad hoc sharpshooter units from their existing commands to take on these increasingly important roles.

Despite what you may observe in many of the so-called sharpshooter companies in the War of Rights community, organized Confederate Sharpshooters during the Maryland Campaign were not mercenary snipers skulking around the limits of the battlefield in order to plunder the Union’s proverbial baggage train, nor did they behave as massed infantry senselessly bayonet charging the front and flanks of the enemy.

One example of the correct implementation of the Confederate Sharpshooter during the Maryland Campaign is seen in the efforts of Col. Bristor Gayle of the 12th Alabama Infantry. An early innovator of the role of the Confederate Sharpshooter, Col. Gayle detailed four men from each of his companies, hand-picked for their lethal accuracy, to form a party of approximately forty skirmishers. Col. Gayle personally lead this skirmishing force at the Battle of South Mountain, where it made contact with an elite enemy force, the Pennsylvania Bucktails, and sustained contact despite overwhelming odds in order to delay the advance of the enemy for a significant time. Gayle's sharpshooters not only inflicted significant injury to the enemy, they also purchased valuable time the Confederate flank to be properly extended.

The 6th Louisiana Tiger Scouts seek to represent the historically correct Confederate Sharpshooter of the Maryland Campaign by working as a squad cooperatively with the 6th Louisiana battalion, not independent of it. Each Tiger Scout has demonstrated superior marksmanship and is drilled precisely to the letter of the original manuals on the art of skirmishing developed from the European tactical heritage of American infantry tactics.

Just purchased the game yesterday and played a few rounds with Zambodi. Quite a nice soldier. He directed me here to enlist with the Tigers and I've already signed up through the Company Tool. He has linked me to the TS3 server as well.
If there is anything else I need to do please let me know. I look forward to serving with some fine men.

Greetings, friends.

A friend of mine pointed this game out to me last night. I've watched a few videos and immediately became captivated. I just pledged to to Captain rank. Now that's done, I am looking for a group to join. I believe this company is right for me, but I am looking for a structured unit that values discipline during combat, yet loves to have fun when not on duty. I've been and currently involved in Arma Milsim units, so I believe I will fit right on in with War of Rights. I've already taken the liberty to click the enlist button. I hope I will be considered and look forward to serving along each and every one of you.

Soilders of the 6th Louisiana Infantry,

Congrats Gentlemen, Today May 23rd, is our 1 year anniversary since the regiment was first formed. It seems like just yesterday when i was promoted to Captain and allowed to form my own Company with my first mate Colonel Madden. How far we have come! I would have never imagined last May that i would in a years time have a solid Battalion of 3 Companies as well as our hooks into the future, with the Louisiana Brigade that is now 4 companies strong. As well as having my eye on, and structure set, on my own Louisiana artillery. Your dedication as loyal soilders have made this Regiment a massive success, and its all due to you! Your ability to follow orders, as well as working together as a team to find a way to win at all times is what make you gentlmen great. A few of you boys have even distiguished yourselfs and have found yourselfs as Officers, Nco's, and for a very select and distinguished few, have found themeselves within Regimental Positions. These men are invaluable to me and the 6th in its future in WoR. Together we will push with our brothers in II Corps into the new year and continue to grow and have even more success in 18'. Again, i would like to thank every one of you boys in the 6th Louisiana Tigers for your steadfast dedication and loyalty to one another and displaying excellence and discipline in the field of combat at all times.

¡Atención! ¡Necesitamos soldados hispanohablantes !

We are proud to announce that "Tensas Rifles," Co. D, has officially mustered in the Company Tool!

The Tensas Rifles (pronounced ten•saw) was founded on June 4, 1861 in Tensas Parish in northeast Louisiana on the Mississippi River. Volunteers consisted primarily of subsistence farmers, sugarcane and cotton planters, and laborers from northeastern Louisiana and southwestern Mississippi. As a nod to their mixed Louisianan-Mississippian heritage, the company's logo is a gold-gilted cotton boll fixed to a Mississippi Sword Bayonet, and their "official" drill uniform is that of the 18th Mississippi.

The Sixth Louisiana Infantry Regiment is one of the largest, most active, and best disciplined organizations in the War of Rights community with four mustering companies. We are the founding member of the Louisiana Brigade association and a charter member of the II Corps association. We are proud to field one of the highest volumes of active service and veteran military in the War of Rights community, as well as dozens of direct descendants of Union and Confederate veterans. Our ages range from 16 to 57, however there is no age requirement to volunteer.

Although predominately NA-based and English speaking, we are proud to field a French-speaking Platoon in Company B, and are currently mustering-in a Spanish-speaking platoon in Company C. "Tigers" of the Sixth Louisiana are drilled according to our very own revised edition of Gen. W. Hardee's Tactics (1861), and can also tryout for the Tiger Scouts which practices authentic Civil War period skirmishing, picketing, and scouting tactics.

Hi, I just got the game.
And I'm looking for company to play.
And I heard your group is great and decided to ask some question before deciding to join.
I have question about your company participant policy.
Cause I'm still in school and have friends/groups in other games and sometimes it's conflicting.
So I would like know what you participant policy.
Thanks

Hello, Gary Anderson

We do not have a particular policy regarding participation. All we ask from our members is that you show up when you are able, we understand and stress life comes first. So to my knowledge as an Officer in the 6th Louisiana, you can never be removed from the Regiment for being on leave (just let your higher ups know about you being busy) the only way I could see someone removed is if they never ever show up.

So, the answer is simply show up when you can, and when you do show up give us your full effort. We do have a schedule however as you see above, Sunday and Mondays are our most important days for our unit.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

I meant to record an entire battle round once it really got going but got caught up playing and forgot, then needed to turn in for the night after this round. I intend to get some full footage next time and do some video/audio editing into something a little cool (hopefully).

I had a lot of fun playing with you guys yesterday afternoon into night, I was in game from about 5PM to 8PM and had a lot of fun!

I received a PM from one of the leaders of the 6th LA and I may leave the 21st NC Co C and join you all due to a lack of activity in the NC companies.

See you guys next time!

I officially applied to join the 6th LA Company A in the Company Tool last night under the user name: "Keith H" and I was already added to the TS3 server under Recruit tags.

Hope to see you all on the battlefield later today, I couldn't make the 2PM event :(

A great screencap from Pvt. Martin (Co. A) of the 6th Louisiana's color bearer on Hooker's Push. This is a popular rock for color bearers to raise the morale of their colleagues and offer enemy marksmen target practice. The 6th Louisiana is the first regimental color in War of Rights to have a "battle damaged" variant.

Currently you have to back at the Captains Tier ($69.) to play now.

Well played my first game tonight, tried to get on a server with 2 people to figure out controls, but couldn't join. So I joined the server with 50 people on and got in......knowing nothing about the game. I stumbled around for a bit asking question then out of the blue someone from the 6th LA said hey Fort Mark and helped me. So sorry I don't remember your name, but I was a bit flustered at the time lol. Anyhow, just hope you see this and I wanna thank you very much brother. :)

Another weekend past and another weekend of well fought wins! This Sunday 6th LA teamed up with 1st GA who is also part of the II corps as we helped stress test the 200 man servers on the Harper's ferry map rotation. Below you will see some of the carnage that was a result of the price paid for victory. 6th LA also had a very strong presence in the days prior during the stress tests for the other map modes and I would like to thank the multiple regiments who took the field with us those days and made it successful.

If you would like to join in the fun feel free to contact one of us, post here, or go to our website. If you would like to schedule a event or train with us you are also welcome to do so. We will gladly help out other regiments or new players to achieve any goals they might have in the WoR community.

For any French speaking players our Company F Raging Cajuns are some of the best in the game!

If your still trying to figure out where you land in this crazy game of ours, allow me to say a few things and then present you with a few options if you are interested.

6th LA is currently one of the most active, and best regiments in the game under the leadership of Col. Paioletti, Lt Col. Red leader and Major Cowles. We are part of the II Corps along with 1st GA and the newest part of our family 2nd VA. While we have a long history in this game we are constantly evolving to meet the challenges presented to us in a ever changing game. We do this through the mentorship of long time players and new members with fresh ideas. You will find our playstyle is very aggressive at times but we are still able to adapt and slow down the pace when needed. 6th LA plays to win, you will not see us quick time marching down the road to look good, we leave that in our drills.

When you join 6th LA you are joining more then a regiment. We pride ourselves on keeping a jovial atmosphere in day by day conversations but a serious one when we are in events. Most of our activities occur Friday through Monday with "pop up" events and drills usually during the week. None of our events are mandatory, we encourage you to attend as much as possible but we all realize real life comes first and will not hold it against you.

A few of our achievements make us stand out. We have the largest French speaking company in the game. Our company F "Raging Cajuns" are absolute beasts on the battlefield. If you speak French I highly suggest you check them out.

Game wise we hold the longest shot on a target at just over 1200 yards with many other members being able to hit long shots well beyond what many (including myself) thought possible. Do you have what it takes to make our wall of fame?

We also hold the record for the longest winning streak. While at the time it wasn't all 6th LA guys, and as the night grew longer our people online grew less, many people that played that night credited our leadership and those playing to a unbelievable win streak of 33-0. I would also like to thank those non 6th LA players who were on that night for following orders and playing as a team in order to reach that huge milestone, and I'm happy to say that many after that evening decided to join and now partake in the fun we have on a daily basis.

When you choose to join 6th LA you have 6 companies to choose from and while we all play as 1 we do have our subtle differences and enjoy a friendly banter between them all.

A company: A company is where it all began. The Old Guard. You will get your daily dose of sultry voices and half of the basic food groups. Be careful of the Koalas however, they don't like to be squeezed.

B company: B company will be your destination if you have a unhealthy addiction to sunflower seeds or if you ever found yourself in need of new shoes. Buyer beware, B company holds regular shoe musters and if you are found without, the results can be disastrous. It is also rumored that you need a beard over a certain length to join.

C company: This is home to the other half of the food groups. They also always require more cowbell, take your safety very seriously and look forward to killing everything in sight.

D company: Only look to join D if you can handle the D. These boys require you to take a test in which you must figure out why hitting the V button is related to horses. D company also holds the happiest days in the game.

E company: These are our elite. Our eyes and ears on the battlefield. Has your head ever been split open and the main line is no where near you? Chances are it was these boys. If you are looking to join this company it is highly recommended you bring mint juleps.

F company: As mentioned before, our Raging Canjuns. 6th LA's French speaking company. These boys would make any drill instructor smile and it shows when you play with them. They show no fear when facing enemies on the battlefield and they are also home to the gentleman who holds the long shot record.

Reach out if you would like to join to become one of the family, also if you would like to keep your company and perhaps become part of II Corps you can also contact us. Finally if you are interested in scheduling a match against us we will always welcome the competition.

Have fun gents!

1 month until our 3 year anniversary Tigers! May 23rd, ironically the same day the 6th was mustered in 61' will be three years for us now and we will be officially celebrating on Sunday the 26th at 7pm EST (1 hour before event). It will commence with a parade march lead by Captain Drunkenbagpiper, Speeches from officers, and massive promotions (ive been working the wing system for almost a year now for a reason hint* hint*) which will then be followed by the Sunday Night Community Event.......Devs* perhaps we can open up a 200 man server for that date in which hopefully we have have one of the guys on the CG team moderate so we can choose maps in the same way i do for events on private servers. 200 man server would give us the opportunity to have II Corps take on 1st TX and our Union friends (9th ny, 1st cav, 1st MA, 72nd PA) without some being left out of the action. I love all you guys who have stuck with me and made this unit one of the communities largest and most dominant in the field!

Wow 3 years! That's a incredible achievement and a true testimony to the dedication that the leadership has here. I've only been around for a short time in comparison but I can definitely see why it has lasted for so long and how it continues to grow. I am proud to be able to call the 6th LA my home and honored that I will be able to share this momentous occasion with you guys who I count among my friends. The talent and willingness to help that I've experienced here is not something I've encountered in any game before and I know it will continue far into the future.

I look forward to our anniversary bash I know it will not soon be forgotten. Perhaps we can work on extending that 33-0 record after the festivities are over.

In light of Memorial Day weekend falling on the 27, 6th LA has pushed it's 3 year anniversary celebration back a week to Sunday June 2nd. The parade and promotions will still take place at 7pm followed immediately by a series of matches. There will be multiple people in attendance both live streaming and recording so be sure to wear your Sunday finest. We look forward to seeing all the friends (both old and new) we have made over the past 3 years and we thank you for all the good times we have shared up until this point. We also look forward to many more memories being made in the future with you all as we are all apart of what makes this community great.

I hope to continue fighting against and along side you fella's as well as it is always a good game!

Happy anniversary men and here's to many more!

6th LA continues to grow as a family and as a leader in training new players. Our events span over the weekend with "pop up" events during the week. If you would like to be a part of one of the best in the game reply below or send me a message!

Thank you to all the loyal and active members of the 6th Louisiana Regiments, we had some great events this past weekend with some great groups.

We continue to grow and help those people who want to become better players. Many new players have found the 6th LA through our drills and have decided to become part of our family and many veteran players have come into the fold from our extensive knowledge of the game and it's changing mechanics.

Come see if you have what it takes to be a tiger at one of our drills or events. Our event schedule runs Friday through Monday with a new bracket event starting on Wednesday. Nothing is mandatory although we naturally encourage participation. Our competitors are some of the toughest in the game and in order to keep our fighting edge we try to play together as much as possible.

All aboard the 6th LA pain train, now pulling into a stop near you.

I'm proud to stand next to the newer players and veterans of this game. During the event last night, we were outnumbered by over 10 men for the majority of the event and we still managed to walk away with victory 3-0. Great job to all you asskickers that keep the pain train rolling and make us the best in the game.

If you want to be a part of the team and not just standing on the tracks, reach out and we will get you aboard!

Ok I knew something like this would be out pretty quickly. 1st I will say good games but allow me to retort! CSA was outnumber in beginning so not sure where your getting that from. Also we lost half our team in the 2nd match sooooo not sure if that was fair for CSA. As for the 3rd game we were outnumber 2 to 1 so go ahead and take credit for 3 wins in that scenerio...

Lets reschedule another event 6th La vrs 1st Ga straight up. You in?

Serious? You should try looking through the videos that are already up showing the side difference. You also lost half your team AFTER the end of the 2nd match when you got steamrolled. The 3rd match yeah you were outnumbered due to your other reg leaving but it was a closer match for you probably because half your team had our boys on it. Whenever your ready to go 1 vs 1 you know how to reach us, just try not to change the time of day during the match.

My post had nothing to do about you or 1st GA though so why come and try to be salty?

Gents,

I'm sure there are valid points to be found on both your vision.
But let's agree 'a company thread' isn't the right platform to be 'competative', and even then there is a difference between 'healthy' competition and 'unhealthy'.

The main focus should be on doing great events and team/fairplay … not on some 'matches' trying to beat each other. (sure we all try to win)

Play nice ladies. We were outnumbered by 11 or 12 on the first 2 maps but its not a big deal. Even with the autobalance off we had several 1st Tx and Ga guys that had to fall in with us, all of which were team players and followed orders. It was a pleasure to work with Pix Apollo and the 14th BK and they did an excellent job! I was most excited to see someone invited Chaplain Bradley! No need to talk trash, already settled it in the field fellas.
