A Columbus Guards "Red Jacket" uniform.

Regiment History

The Columbus Guards was a prestigious company that began in 1835. They served in a plethora of major conflicts during the 19th and early 20th century. This includes: The Indian War (1836), Mexican-American War(1846), American Civil War(1861), Spanish American War(1898), and WWI, fighting briefly against Pancho Villa as well. This Regiment took part in the Peninsula Campaign, Seven Days Battles, Northern Virginia Campaign, and the Maryland Campaign. They were part of the heated fighting at Antietam where their Brigadier General, Robert Toombs, was shot in the hand. They were eventually forced to surrender at Appomattox Courthouse with only 1 officer and 11 men left standing.

Why Should You Enlist With Us?
Here at Company G, mature players with any capacity to fire a gun and stab at the enemy are welcome. We accept anyone willing to fight for the Stars and Bars. Our official uniform will be the "Columbus Guards" Uniform that was offered during the kickstarter campaign. HOWEVER, anyone willing to fight with us is gratefully accepted into our ranks. Officers will be promoted by seniority as well as merit, ensuring an experienced and skilled staff. We will adapt as the game is updated, possibly adding on small cavalry detachments as well as artillery.

Requirements

We are looking for mature players preferably 16+ in age.
This is a NA Company, so we will schedule events and training using the EST Timezone.
We need disciplined men to fill our ranks.
You MUST be willing to enjoy yourself at all costs, we want our company's moral to be as high as possible.

When Will Training Start?
Training will begin at the start of closed beta testing. If you do not have access to the closed beta, no worries, you will be trained by a designated drill sergeant who will get you up to speed as soon as the Steam Early Access phase begins.

I was wondering if someone was going to take the company.

I was surprised it wasn't already taken. Got lucky I guess. It's crazy how hard it was to find on the internet. Have yet to find any source directly discussing them, just sources indirectly talking about them.

That red uniform looks looks so sick. Is that the one being added to the game or is it the blue-ish one that was shown on the kickstarter page?

The GA Second Infantry Regiment was organized at Brunswick, GA in June, 1861. Its companies were raised in Banks, Jackson, Muscogee, Burke, Bibb, Marion and Stewart counties and placed under the command of Col. Paul Jones Semmes.
In April, 1862, the regiment had a force of 607 men. It fought with the Army of Northern Virginia from the Seven Days battles to Cold Harbor, except when it was detached with Longsrteet at Suffolk, Chickamauga, and Knoxville. It was later engaged in the Petersburg Siege south of the James River and various engagements around Appomattox.
At Fredericksburg the brigade of Semmes was a part of the force at Marye’s hill that hurled back the hosts of Burnside with such fearful slaughter. At Chancellorsville again General Semmes led his brigade into the fierce conflict, first with Hooker, then with Sedgwick at Salem church. In the fighting of the first day at Gettysburg, General Semmes fell mortally wounded. General Lee said in his report that Semmes was leading his brigade “with the courage that always distinguished him,” and that he “died as he had lived, discharging the highest duty of a patriot with devotion that never faltered and courage that shrank from no danger.”
To P. W. A., the noted war correspondent, Paul J. Semmes, in the agony of his death wound, his bright blue eyes filling with tears of exultant joy, said, “I consider it a privilege to die for my country.”

I'm not sure about the red one but I'm pretty sure the blue one will be added.

They may do most of there stuff through Steam, I don't know. Haven't investigated to see if they're even on the Company Tool.
