Songs Of The Civil War

I have started this thread to ask the War of Rights team about the music of the game.

In 1862 during the Maryland Campaign many songs were used before and during battle as men marched onto the field. For the Confederacy I Wish I Was In Dixieland, The Bonnie Blue Flag, Stonewall Jackson's Way, and as accounts say when the Confederates crossed in Maryland the song "Maryland My Maryland" was played and the tuned whistled by Marylanders eager to liberate Maryland from "Tyrannical Abe".

In 1862 the Union had songs such as The New York Volunteer, Lincoln and Liberty, Battle Cry of Freedom, Minstrel Boy and Gary Owen in which the Irish quickly marched to.

I hope that these songs and many more will be put into War of Rights especially Maryland My Maryland because the Maryland Campaign. There are many other songs such as The Dissolution Wagon, Hell On Wabash, Ol Dan Tucker, and The Battle Hymn of The Republic as well though I don't know if they were sung around 1862, well I know The Battle Hymn of The Republic was.

Please Feel Free To Post Your Song Ideas But At least Let Them be the American Civil War or one that American soldiers would sing (No British Grenadiers or The French Imperial March) I know someone will try and post something like that.

Ok..i saw this thread and had to make a account to comment..The songs of the war to me are crucial to the development of a game as this.A historian named bobby horton preserved and sang much of the music from the civil war, so im going to make a list of many of the songs he recorded from the list on his historical albums as reference to songs played, all of which could be researched for lyrics, or played and acessed.

Im fairly certain almost if not all the songs here were period specific to the civil war and sung by men of the cause of both sides.. this needed to be left here to show and remind the makers of this game the history, necessity of preserving this history through song,adding these to the game (perhaps via a fife or instrument if not lyrical)and so in the memorum of those who sang it.
