It was part of nothing. The very few Gatlings used, was not government property but weapons brought by officers and as such they also had to pay for all the other stuff that is needed to get a piece into the field.
Naturally the general who paid for it do have so authority to order men to man it.
Iam not really sure how much information actually exist on their actual use during the war...

As far as I remember the gatlings weren't used at that time ('62)
Modders do have a way of getting much more random things into days I wouldint out it past them to add light sabers or even b-29's
