    Gettysburg

Anyone else here at Gettysburg with me? I will post pictures when I get back home to the computer. Gonna stop by Sharpsburg while I'm in the area! My first visit to either battlefield!

Ahh I wish, im just a few miles away and wish I could join but recently have been running into some car trouble. If things should change and I have the opportunity I would love to get down on the 3rd to catch pickets charge reenactment.....its to die for! Have fun my man, and I hope the weather on the 3rd will be a little better than it was today. I hear, so far atleast, that the boys have been behaving themselves. Its not out of the ordinary for the men to actually load up real shots or leave their ram rod in the muzzle to wound or kill the enemy. Gettysburg always has the most dangerous reenactments, of course that just makes it all the more exciting to attend...nothing better than a battle that you cant guarantee your family that you will return from! lol

Looking forward to seeing your pictures ...

Also rumor has it that there may be some rather raucous folks in the neighborhood looking to topple monuments, desecrate cemeteries, and just in general be a pain in the ass because they're trying to eradicate this particular aspect of American History because they still consider themselves victims. As it is, I hope you can avoid anything like that. BUT if you happen on some of it, I'd like to see pictures of that too.

    Have fun.

    Source?

At the 1998 event there was One accident. with a revolver that was loaded. And that was with 26.000 reenactores.

Considering that the use of ramrods is very clearly forbidden at the event (and most others) I would sure like to see some evidence that not only drawing it, but deliberately leaving it in the barrel to hurt other reenactores is done. And similar with the accusation that people load with live rounds.

If I was to organize a Protest in support of X, then the easiest way to get people to show up it to spread the roomer that others are showing up to do something against X... Not a new trick in the book.

    Guess time will tell.

But if anyone actually do desecrate wargraves I sure hope someone is ready with a camera and a group of police officers... and anyone who did it get locked up for a long long time.

I went to Gettysburg yesterday for the first time myself. It was such an awesome experience, going on that auto tour of the battlefield. I recommend it for those who know of the battle. For those who don't I recommend taking advantage of the battlefields many guided tours. They had a lot of different ones from what I saw, ranging from the common bus tour to even my surprise a guided segway tour. There is just so much to see and do. I also found myself awed at just the look of the area. It was such a beautiful landscape, and town.

Also for those rumors for those people trying to make trouble, I saw nothing of the sort. Probably scared away from all the people I saw there just to defend against said rumors. I saw a massive presents of law enforcement, plus bike gangs, and many others civilians in those area supposedly a target by these rumors. Know what, come to think of it maybe these "babies" are doing us as a nation a service. By bringing all these groups together against them.

Here are my pics from yesterday for those interested.

From the Eternal Peace Memorial A.k.A Maj Gen Robert E. Rode's Position. Day 1 of Battle

The best leader for the confederates at the battle In my opinion (Lt Gen. James LongStreet)

Just left Sharpsburg and headed home. I can personally attest to the authenticity of WoR environments. It was almost like I was in the game! Standing in the doorway of Dunker Church was amazing. Pictures tomorrow!
