Artillery is a very complex system (one of the most complex I am afraid), so it will be added during a later stage of the development. Most likely during the early access phase (Skirmish phase 3).

OP had a 'quick question' and received a 'quick answer', a more informative answer may have been found of his own accord if the search function was used correctly. Our word at the moment regarding artillery is that we have no word.

We want artillery to be meaningful and of great impact of the battles and we hope to be able to make it so one day.

Artillery will be present in the early phases of the skirmishes releases. It'll be in a very simplistic form however. Later on, we do have plans of adding a more complex artillery branch to the game.
