I think Monocacy Battlefield would be perfect for this game. It's not a huge scale battle or location, but still has many features that make it interesting.

It's a good location AND it fits the campaign already in place. https://www.nps.gov/mono/index.htm

in general speaking would love to see dlcs bring later campaigns of the war and my main wish is to have the battle of fredreksburg.

i also notice there are maps that claimed to be "semi historical accurate" so if thats the vibes we going for with this game i would also like to see the invasion of new york.

Not battlefields, just random skirmish encounters on that big training map. Server choses a spot, rotates the map and chooses a north at random, places those movement barriers, the starting positions and the objective and things are set. In five years of war, there must have been random encounters between small troops. Sort of picket but with respawns
Novelty is so out of the few and repetitive skirmish maps....

    Thanks for the feedack.

We currently feature more than 30 different skirmish maps - I wouldn't call that "the few".

Picket Patrol is designed to bring that random, open playing field feeling into the game.

One of the major reasons for us not going with respawns as you suggest, is because if you add respawns then the random factor will only last until the first contact - after that both sides will have a huge chance at guessing where the enemy is respawning and thus where to situate themselves in order to counter said spawnpoint in the best possible way.

Having respawns in Picket Patrol would also force us to have no-go zones for the other team to avoid spawncamping.

All of the above would reduce the openness and the randomness of the game mode and, effectively, turn it into a less fleshed out Skirmish game mode than the actual Skirmish game mode.

By random I was thinking of random available cover. You may be advantaged in one map, disadvantaged in another, etc. And most importantly, every time a random map is on, it would be truly random

As for guessing where the spawns are, that is true, to some extent, though you can make maps where the walkable areas from the respective spawns to the objective are at an angle (there is a corn map with an L shape, forgot which), so as to keep things novel. Sure, by the end of the match, spawns locations will be known BUT that will not avail you in the next match, even if it happens to be in the same location, the spawns A - obj - spawn B angle would be different.

Don't take me wrong but every time a skirmish starts I know already which way everything is. Whereas the picket maps were entertaining due to the randomness and a bit boring due waiting next round. Why not combine the best of two worlds ?

Maybe even disable objective if borders are close enough to ensure contact. No, wait, in between the 2 spawns make 2 objectives, one for each team, staging areas if you will. Each team must hold its own staging area and capture the enemy's. How and were they do that is not set ( no central objective), as it is a random surprise encounter, so the units fight until one is routed off the field (losing its staging area)...
