[95th New York Volunteer Infantry " Warren Rifles"]

95th NY, "Warren Rifles," recruited mainly in New York city and vicinity, was mustered into the U. S. service at New York, from Nov., 1861, to March, 1862, for three years. It left for Washington, March 18, was attached to Gen. Wadsworth's forces in the defenses there and later to the Department of the Rappahannock at Acquia creek. With the 2nd brigade, 1st division, 3d corps, it participated in the Virginia campaign, suffering a loss of 113 at Manassas and the engagements leading up to it. In September, the division was transferred to the 1st corps; was active at South mountain and Antietam, and during the autumn took part in the operations at Philomont, Union and Upperville, Va. At Fredericksburg it was not placed in an exposed position, and at Chancellorsville and during the remainder of the war it served with the 5th corps, which was hotly engaged at Gettysburg, the 95th losing 115 in killed, wounded and missing. It was present at Rappahannock Station in October and shared in the Mine Run campaign. At Brandy Station, the winter quarters of the division, most of the members of the 95th reenlisted, securing its continuance as a veteran regiment. It was constantly engaged during the campaign under Gen. Grant in the spring and summer of 1864, lost 174 men at the Wilderness, and day by day thereafter suffered depletion of its ranks. Col; Pye was mortally wounded at Cold Harbor. The regiment was active in different stations before Petersburg, at the Weldon railroad, Poplar Spring Church, Hatcher's run, in the Hicksford raid, and in the Appomattox campaign. It was mustered out at Washington, July 16, 1865, having lost 119 by death from wounds and 136 from other causes, of whom 80 died in imprisonment. The two images below are battle maps of 2nd Bull Run and the bottom one is of South Mountain although we are not directly shown on the battle map for South Mountain we would have been in the centre with the rest of the 1st CORP's units like the 80th NY, 35th NY and 21st NY.

The Picture on the Top is a redesigned copy of what the 95th New York Regimental flag would have look like during the civil war there for it is not historically accurate too the point but there isn't much of a source out there for what the actual 95th NY Reg't flag did look like.

The Picture on the bottom here represents a recruitment poster that a member from the actual 95th New York used during the civil war to encourage people to join New York Company's.

As a unit we like to focus on being able to work together as a cohesive unit this includes us training in some of the historical commands they actually used during the Civil war as part of this we also have our own edited manual. The layout of our drill sessions include us training in the basic school of the solider, maneuvering, formations this include columns of 2 and forming into a line of battle,Wheeling and Skirmish formations. We also realise the importantance of being able to shoot accurately and will train all our members to shoot the various rifles in the game.

When it comes to events we will either work as one big cohesive unit or separate into our company's to maximize our tactics. As we are a line infantry unit we can and will use line formations to not only keep that historical accuracy but to also minimize our loss rate when in battle.

The 95th New York currently at the moment in War of Rights consists of 2 Companies A and B. The commanding officer of Company A is Captain Mack Lester he works his drill session around the NA time zone. The times and days for the Company A Drills are on Sunday 3 EST they then follow that up with the event later on at around 4 EST. They also have drills on Tuesday 8pm EST.
The Commanding officer of Company B is Captain Marshall Whetstone. The drill times for company B are Friday 7:00Gmt and Sunday 7:00Gmt.

The Pictures below are a collection of some of our best moments and all round fun we have had through out our time playing War of Rights as a Unit. There is a mix of photos from our Drill sessions and the other photos are from events and other skirmishes we have had. I have also included a small video made by a prior member of the Unit.

When applying to join the 95th New York we have our own enlistment papers which has all the questions we need to know about you.

The 95th New York State Volunteers have now officially created a dedicated website please feel free to Click Here and read about the history of the unit and also look at the pictures and other historical images.

I`d say it`s not that nice to follow an opening Thread by saying one would be happy to be apart of the given company, BUT well times change and maybe I am too old to understand todays young people.

Concerning me, I am excited to see another great company of New York boys who will always hold the line.

Salute to the Warren Rifles!! Hussaar! o7

Yes unfortunately Patwick left the unit and so the other forum post was a bit out dated so I decided to update it but thank you still for the support and salute to our fellow New Yorkers.
