In 1858 the US army and the danish army did an exchange of uniforms and gear.
The US received on complete set of infantry and cavalry gear. (no firearms)
And Denmark got the same from the US...
The danish items have been lost, but the US stuff is today part of the exhibition at the danish war museum.
The collection is unique since it is off the shelf items taken at the same point in time.
(the the items the Smithsonian hold are one of each item when they where officially approved)
