    American Civil War Ancestry

    My Wife's 3rd Great Grandfather

    Served with the:

    106th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, Company F

    • Pvt Ellis Artley
    • Mustered into service: May 6, 1864
    • Mustered out of Service: (with company) June 30, 1865

    I learned that my Great, Great, Great, Great grandparents were brothers and one fought on the Confederate and the other on the Union.

    Enlistment: May 14th, 1836--July 17th, 1836 (company disbanded?)
    Cannot find his Civil war Unit as of right now, probably a MS unit since he moved to MS.

    25th Indiana Infantry, Private, A Company, US
    Totally lost track of data, nothing can be found.




    I am still trying to track down specific units, companies, etc, but the records for the Orphan Brigade units or any Kentucky units really (Since my family is from Kentucky) are nonexistent basically so it’s tough, the Union kept MUCH better records. All the family listed are closely related to each other (cousins basically) and it really surprised me how many enlisted.

    Well when you live on a border state, especially in Butler county which is only a 20-30 minute drive from the Tennessee border, you’ll probably have a lot of your family being forced to fight because the front line is right there.
