Still, its easier to push a new update some hours before an event. You might find some nasty bugs during the event, which can be adressed by us during the week.
The bugs will get fixed in a hotfix and in the end, the sunday event on the next weekend might have less problems

Note if you update on a thursday, you have an entire weekend where the community can test the update. Therefor, you guys still will have all the information you need on the monday (because most of the time, a update is being done on sunday.) Wich makes the only difference for you guys to either work extra hard one week for the update, or wait a week with a update etc etc etc.
So that the testers, have enouf time to update the game, aswell trying to fix glitches if it wont start the game. (Think about checking file integretiy, or reinstalling the game). So there is no loss as far I can see, and both sides have a win in this case.
Thats my view on it.
