2018 First Annual Turkey Shoot Final Results
I'm proud to present the results of our First Annual Turkey Shoot. The event took place on November 17th and was attended by 6 members of the 2nd United State Sharpshooters Co. H. As judge and the 7th member I did not compete.
We covered shooting competitions both kneeling and standing from ranges of 50-150 yards and featured moving target competitions as well. All told the final results were extremely close with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places separated by just one point a piece.
With that I present the First Place trophy to our own officer, 1st. Lt. Clark who although started slow, quickly warmed up and hit some clutch shots late to take home the trophy. This was not surprising due to the countless hours he spends in marksmanship training in drill camp with seasoned vets and new recruits. Congratulations 1st Lt. Clark!
A close second and just one point back was Cpl. Williams who expends so much effort on marksmanship training and even in training our new recruits. He shows his skills continuously on the battlefield and it showed in this competition. Congratulations Cpl. Williams!
In third place was Pvt. Karlsen who has been with us almost since the beginning and showed a steady hand and some good skills out there from various distances. Congratulations Pvt. Karlsen!
And finally to Pvt. Reed, Pvt, Meehan and Pvt. Smith, some great shooting out there and a shot or two difference over a 1.5 hour competition could have put a ribbon in your hands as well. What I was most proud of overall was how skilled we've become with the musket/rifle in such a short period of time, and the fact is everyone shot and competed well and that's what these competitions are all about.
Lastly Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Enjoy some good food, good drink, and some family and friend time. I know I'm thankful for all the friends I have made here and here's to many more good years to come!
