    Friendly PSA

Just a friendly PSA i noticed that a lot of officers use the comands "Make ready!" "Present!" etc.

These commands were never used during the war.

Instead the commands Ready, Aim, Fire were used as the other commands were outdated by that time.

Please use Ready, Aim, Fire instead in the name of historical accuracy.

Only difference would be for firing by file - ready - commence firing

I imagine people got this from Napoleonic games

Use whatever makes you comfortable, I personally like the make ready and present bit myself.

    "At the ready."

You do you my man, but don't come in here and tell people what to do.
Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in!

    - Plays a game based on a war where one group told another group how to live and 600,000 people died as a result.
    - Tells people how to play said game.
    - SECESSION!!!!

/jk. I understand the desire for historical accuracy and prefer it myself. But the joke was just waiting to be made.

Regardless of exact, historical accuracy it is the moment when a whole line waits for the command, the NCOs repeating the orders, that makes the game for me. Very immersive. Reminds me of the film 'Glory' when the NCOs repeat commands to ensure everyone has heard (particularly nervous greenhorns).

The number wasn't the part that was ?? - the first part seems to be revisionist lost cause mythology.
