Instead of the Morale screen and the % message of an unknown number, I’d suggest the following.
In the background the etching of a cemetery with a freshly-dug grave and family gathered around it (bear with me, this is purely the aesthetic).
Then against this image the message (example):
“Private Quaker of the 72nd Pennsylvania was killed on the (date) at the Battle of Pry Grist Mill while in the service of his State and Country.”
Transitions gradually to next screen:
“Personal report: you were killed while In Formation (or Skirmishing/Out of Line) and cost your team 1 (or 3/5) Morale tickets.”
This then transitions to (image of large flag as background):
“Battle Status: Prepare to enter the fray soldier!
The 72nd Pennsylvania Flag is Active (or Inactive) and the Union is Battle Ready (or Engaged/Taking Losses/Breaking). Proceed to join your Company.”
Then to the spawning screen.
