About Phillip's Legion
Phillip's Legion (A) was formed by a group of friends looking to get a more immersive unit experience out of War of Rights.
We strive to create that experience for ourselves and others by implementing weekly drills and events that will help build trust within the company.
Phillip's Legion will not by any means be strict to the point of reducing the fun of War of Rights.
However we aim on holding events and training regimes based on real drilling.
We aim above all else to focus on fun, while practicing and playing together to form a cohesive, cooperative unit.
Phillip's Legion was formed in April of 1861 four miles south of Marietta at Camp Brown.
The Legion was made up of six infantry companies and four cavalry companies. An artillery battery was formed but service was denied by President Davis.
Phillip's Legion was accepted into service in July of 1861. The Legion was then ordered to join the Army of the Kanawha.
Eventually Phillip's Legion would go to South Carolina to join General Thomas Drayton.
The Legion spent the majority of winter and spring guarding railway lines and recovering from their losses.
In July the Legion was sent north to join the Army of Northern Virginia as part of Cobb's Brigade.
Special Order 104 would forever separate Phillip's Legion into two groups.
Phillip's Legion would go on to play a part in Fredericksburg, The Gettysburg Campaign and the Carolinas Campaign.
