Organized by 18th North Carolina Infantry and the German Volunteers Community as part of the UEC
Welcome to the Community Event of the "United European Community". As a community we have already participated in many events and got to know many different ideas in the course of time. Now we want to start our own pilot project and therefore invite the whole War of Rights community to support us in this project and to participate in a successful event together. From the time planning we orientate ourselves towards suitable event times for Europeans, but we would also like to expressly invite every unit of the North American community to participate and thus strengthen the ties of the WoR players. With our event we do not want to leave it simply with an appointment and a time, but create a rounded complete package, in order to offer each unit an organized framework and a maximum play fun and originality to offer. The inspiration comes as already mentioned from many different events in which have participated, rounded off by own ideas and conceptions. We would like to thank every event organizer who has invited us to one of his events in the past and has contributed significantly to the development of this event.
The event should be structured as follows:
Six, to a maximum of eight units, three or four per side, will meet on the battlefield. This makes about ~20 men per participating unit (numbers can vary in practice). Two of the three units per team will fight as infantry in classic close formations, i.e. in battle lines or similar. The goal of these units is to face the enemy directly and to inflict maximum damage on the enemy by using volleys. Holding or capturing the target points will depend on these groups. These groups are supported by a Skimisher unit defined at the beginning, which leads the open battle and relies on cover and terrain. As scouts and snipers, this unit will harass the enemy and provide valuable support for the other units in the team. It is also planned that the units will be assigned a position in an imaginary battle line. On the battlefield, this means that Unit A will protect the left flank, while Unit C will protect the right flank and Unit B will protect the center. The classification, combined with a common battle plan, will be worked out by the units before the event to have a customized strategy at hand. For the sake of historical accuracy, the units are instructed to use only in-game voice chat and messengers. Two maps are played per event. The cards to be played will consist of groups of two consecutive maps, which will be announced in advance. So the units can prepare themselves better for the fights.
Application
General rules
- Disciplined and sociable behavior of each participating unit
- Communication in combat will be limited to in-game voice chat and the use of messengers between units.
- The event will officially consist of two rounds.
- Play together as a group. No solo entries from members or units.
- A neutral observer will be appointed to monitor the event from a bird's eye view and ensure that the rules are observed.
- The Teams have 5 minutes on the map before the fighting begins to form up and prepare themselves.
- No troops are allowed to fire into the spawn areas.
- This event is intended to provide its participants with a focused and decelerated experience appropriate to the game's potential for authentic Civil War battles.
- A unit must have at least 10 men to sign up and act as an independent unit. If this is not possible, units must be aware of being attached to another company under the command of another officer.
- The allocation of the troop classes and teams takes place 30 minutes before the start of the event at a preliminary meeting on the TGV Teamspeak.
- Event information and feedback is shared via a dedicated steam group chat.
- Units may deploy a "Scout" squad consisting of two men. These scout's are allowed to move around their unit to scout the area. They are not allowed to fight and they must retreat at the sight of an enemy. Both Scouts have to stay together. They are not allowed to cap the Point of Interest.
- Each unit may receive 5 warnings for 5 violations of the rules. If there are more rule violations, they will be penalized by kicking the persons concerned from the server. If a unit is repeatedly noticed to be breaking the rules, it can be suspended from the event for one to two weeks.
Infantry rules
- The line units are obliged to fight "in formation", i.e. to use close formations such as the Battleline with one or preferred two ranks.
- Reinforcing a unit from "Main Spawn" is done in small groups of 5 or more players. While moving out of the spawn, the reinforcements are obliged to avoid combat until they have joined a unit.
Skirmisher rules
- The Skimishers have more freedom to choose their formation, but their members are not allowed to use so-called "one man operations". The skirmishers must operate in small groups of at least 5 men.
- Reinforcing a unit from "Main Spawn" is done in small groups of 2 or more players. While moving out of the spawn, the reinforcements are obliged to avoid combat until they have joined a unit.
Artillery rules
- Artillery crews must consist of at least 3 men.
- Each team may use as many guns as there are units in the team. Depending on the size of the team, between two and three guns are available.
- Move out from the main spawn in groups of 3 men.
- Reloading or moving of the cannons is only allowed at the minute 40:00 of the Round Time.
- If artillerymen spawn at the spawn point of their battery while it is being engaged by enemy infantry at close range, they are forced to retreat to the safety of an allied unit without combat action (of any kind). From there, the artillery crew can then move freely as long as they do not start their own combat action without the use of guns.
Special Rules
- It is prohibited to occupy buildings. This includes log cabins, barns, farm buildings etc. Scouts are allowed to enter buildings if they want to get an overview of the battlefield.
- The Harpers Ferry maps "Bolivar Heights Redoubt" "Maryland Heights" and "School House Ridge" are part of the normal map rotation. On special occasions the remaining HF maps will also be played.
