The Burning Of Carlisle, Pennsylvania 1863

I found a reference to this event in this book on page 28.

Did General Lee find out about this?

Weren't Confederate troops under orders to "Take nothing but memories, leave only footprints."?

There's a years difference in this history. The game models 1862 … Carlisle was burned in 1863 during the Gettysburg campaign.

And I'm sure Gen'l Lee knew about it.

I think it's an exaggerated account, although they may have fired a few buildings of military value. They definitely requisitioned supplies throughout Pennsylvania. Carlisle wasn't burned itself.

I was reading on and I was interested to read that he took the pants off a dead federal soldier and replaced his with his own. I actually heard the account of this occurring recently from the other perspective, where his comrades found a guy with his pants changed like that. I wish I could remember where as I'm not sure the two have been placed together. I feel like it was the 45th NY
