51st New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment - 'Shepard Rifles' - For EU/NA!
Introduction
The 51st New York Volunteer Infantry has been created with the intention of supplying players with a unit that values a mix of fun, discipline and historical accuracy. And of course there is a time for each of these. We plan to play mainly as line infantry but in certain maps, we may also find skirmishing is the best option. Our equipment will consist of of the Springfield 1861 Rifle, and standard US uniforms (the 51stNY is a playable regiment in-game).
We strive to use realistic drills with only rare exceptions due to the limitations of in-game mechanics. Our commands are based on Casey's(/Hardee's) manuals on infantry tactics.
As for rank structure, they all play unique roles. We believe in an authentic rank structure, which is why ranks are given out as a sign of increased responsibility, not mere titles (that's what medals are for). To get to the rank of private you msut prove yourself loyal and capable. To reach corporal expectations of you increase manyfold and unlike many other regiments, to avoid rank inflation, the process is taken seriously. This way the ranks are actually worth something when granted. However, all this does not vindicate a lack of room for promotions. If you put your nose to the grindstone attention will find you. This being said, if you wish to join, you will find an active, well rounded unit in which you will enjoy your stay.
What can you expect?
1. Drills: Train as regiment on manoeuvres and firing to become a cohesive group that can hold its own in battle.
2. Events: Big battles with multiple regiments, where we fight in the manner we trained on in drills (with the real commands based on manuals used (Casey's/Hardee's).
3. Community: You can hang out on our Discord where we can have a laugh and talk about tons of different things.
What do we expect?
1. Try to attend as many drills/events as possible, but there are no rules on attendance... Can you make it? Good! You can't? No problem AT ALL.
2. Inform us if you cannot make it to a drill/event (this is important, especially for event organisation).
3. That you have fun and enjoy your stay in our community.
