    My Battle of Antietam Novel

I've posted this in some of the discords I'm in, but I figured I'd post it in here too:

This is a link to the first chapter I wrote for a historical non-fiction novel based on the Battle of Antietam. It follows the perspectives of the soldiers who fought in the bloodiest single day in American history. I wanted to make it realistic, so it can be pretty darn bloody and gory at times. I hope any readers enjoy it, because TBH I'm not really a novelist so I don't even think it's that good. Photographs of the battlefield are from my various visits. I may continue with this novel if people want me too, I don't know.

The soldiers being mentioned in the novel are all real historic people. For sources, I have mainly used letters, diaries, and reports for my writing.

In my narrative style, I try to make you feel like you really are there at the Battle of Antietam. I don't know if it works well but I tried to make it as realistic and gritty as possible.

Sorry it took so long to add some new content, I've been so busy irl I haven't had the time to write more. After seeing, however, that people were interested, I decided to get back on it:

Chapter 2 focuses on the timeframe of Dawn to 6:20 AM on the morning of the Battle of Antietam.
