The regiment was created in May of 1861 near Clarksville, in Camp Duncan. Immediatly after being constitued as a regiment, it was transfered to the Army of Northern Virginia, army in which it would stay until the end of the war.
It participated in many important battles of the campaign, being Gettysburg the most famous. In the Gettysburg battle, the regiment was heavily decimated in the first day, and after that it was assigned to the units of the Brig. General Pettigrew by General Lee. Pettigrew then received orders to join the virginia division of Pickett.
Thereupon, Pickett disposed the attack that would be later known as the famous "Pickett´s Charge" In which the 14thTN participated. The unit was deployed in the left flank, and was one of the first unit to reach the Union lines. The regiment lost 58% of its enlisted members, being one of the most heavily damaged unit in the battle.
After the battle the 14th was reformed and ended the campaign participating in many more battles, and surrendered in Appomattox, in april, 1865.

El regimiento fue creado en el mes de mayo de 1861 cerca de Clarksville, en el campamento Duncan. Inmediatamente después de ser constituido, fue trasladado al ejército del norte de Virginia, ejército en el cuál se mantendría hasta el final de la guerra.
Participó en muchas batallas importantes de la campaña, entre las que destaca su actuación en Gettysburg. En dicha batalla, el regimiento fue gravemente diezmado el primer día, y posteriormente el general Lee asignó al 14th a las unidades al mando del General de Brigada Pettigrew, el cuál tenía órdenes de unirse a la división de virginia de Pickett.

Después de esta batalla el regimiento se recompuso y continuó peleando en diversos campos de batalla, hasta su rendición final en Appomattox, en abril de 1865.
