    Unlocking NCO slots

Do we seriously have an need for an NCO cap? Officers I can get, but, NCOs are used right now mostly as defacto officers just because they have the insignia and look different and ultimately that's most of the point of officers. It's just so damn silly and arbitrary for NOCs to be locked. It made sense when way back in the day ranks were randomized and the SgtMaj had a pistol, but he doesn't anymore.

    Hello.

NCO's spawn a NCO icon when in formation when players press T. That (we don't want up to 75 icons spawned) paired with the historical enlisted to NCO ratio is why NCO's are limited.

Set a max to the amount of icons present. The ratio argument is impossible to work with because that varied massively.

Just like the autobalance, it would be great if server owners could toggle the limits on and off. Often people will have more NCOs and COs in their Company than the game will allow. Sergeants and Corporals are often used as markers in our events to form lines on, so being able to recognize them in the blink of an eye is important. On top, in regiments like the 4thNJ people earn their rank, would be nice if they can then also wear the stripes in the event.

    Hey guys,
Just an idea that came to my mind regarding this topic: What about removing the NCO icon completly (i don't really pay attention to them myself while playing) and instead if you need some kind of information about where your regiment currently is, giving the CO some sort of icon that will pop up when you press T. So you would still have some sort of icon and not too many of them what could break the immersion or just confuse you.
Because i agree, more NCO slots would be really nice to have, especially for our drills and events (if they need to be unlimited i am not so sure, but at least a bit increased would be helpful ).

I agree that we need more NCO slots. Why not just remove the NCO icon and just put officers icons ? Like that we would juste see both officers by pressing T and that's it

Playing in a regiment and never being able to play with the appropriate rank and uniform, is a real pain.

There can be no random [or self-appointed] NCOs.

You have to grasp that an NCO is handpicked extension cord of the Officer. They are rare by design. NCO does not fall into formation, they hover like bumblebees to reinforce Officer Authority and Orders. There can be no random [or self-appointed] NCOs. Only Officers can designate who spawns as NCO. Otherwise you get a bullet in the head for being a moron. The same electrical current runs through both NCO and Officer, they are of a like-breed.. Treat an NCO as you would an Officer but do not say 'Sir' because that is a word reserved for Commissioned Officers. Otherwise, NCO has command authority even if no Officer is present. NCO answers only to superior grades that are Enlisted or Commissioned. NCO can execute you in the field for disobeying their orders in Combat - just like the non-present Officer they represent. NCO does not represent himself at all. NCO is merely an extension of the Commanding Officer unless emergency conditions exist - and NCO can improvise in a way he believes his Officer would approve ---- when the NCO has to explain himself at debriefing after combat.

It's really just a random arbitrary player who picked it as a class, same as the officer, and color bearers.

Well, that may be so for the random player on a public server, but for us regimental players, and this applies tae a lot of Regiments in WoR, he has a true role and function, very similar tae the NCO's roles in real life. back in the days and in the present. They are the backbone of a lot of Units and have therefore also earned their ranks, they fulfil their functions and therefore deserve tae carry their respective stripes in Battle or Drillfield as well.
The standard setup for a Company back in the Day, without mentioning the 'special' Sergeants like Ordnance and Train, was

    1 First Sergeant
    4 Sergeants
    8 Corporals

The Sergeant Major is actually a regimental Rank. So allowing players tae chose a NCO-spot in their respective Companies would add more tae the Immersion. Remember, this statement is particularly true for Companies and Regiments within the WoR-Community, it rarely does apply tae Public Matches as they dinnae have a Structure like those Units mentioned above.
